However, it seems Lehman is not so lucky. It may not even be sold as Bear Stearns, but file for bankruptcy, no buyer, no government support (like they have done with Bear Stearns, Fannie, and Freddie). Does it mean it has even a worse fate than Bear Stearns?

"Cloud computing" is hot among vendors. Google Chrome is aimed at this trend. To win the war, you need a "cloud Operating System". Many vendors consider making browser "cloud OS" and putting it at user experience center. Another trend is mobile computing. I believe browser war for mobile phone will also be fierce.
Currently, "browser as computing platform" is more represented by Microsoft and Google (Internet Explorer 8/Silverlight/Live Mesh, Google Chrome/Google Gears/Google Web Toolkit). Adobe has AIR but not a browser. FireFox, Safari, Opera are only browser and their companies do not have "cloud computing" runtime.
I am not sure whether in future age, a company can win by controlling front-end platform (like controlling operating system currently). Internet promotes open standard and user can freely switch front-end platform is protocols are open and interoperable.
